This is a hike for all ages! At Hikely, we want everyone to be able to appreciate the great outdoors. We walk a relaxed and level trail that leads us to fallen trees and crumbling stairs suited for any tiny explorer. The trail guide packs binoculars to share with curious little learners while they spy for wildlife in the park. The trail ends under an ancient oak tree and includes a story time of the folklore from the Native American tribes called the Chumash and the Tongva, who lived in the Santa Monicas for thousands of years. Beginner, 1-2 hours.
This trail winds through fragrant California Coastal Sage, past Buckwheat and along Matilija Poppies. Your trail guide will identify native plants throughout the hike. Wild Toyon, Lemonade Berry, and the California Morning Glories are just a few of the indigenous plants found in the Santa Monica Mountains. On this guided trail you’ll learn how the Chumash tribes used the plants medicinally and spiritually. Beginner, 1-2 hours.
This hike incorporates mindfulness techniques that engage all the senses. Mindfulness is a way for people to get back in touch with their inner values. It’s an empowering tool- not a set direction that everyone should follow but a technique which differs from person to person. On this trail we hike to the famous Skull Rock for a guided meditation. These sleepy bluffs are a powerful place to set intentions and send out prayers. 3 hours, Intermediate.

If you’re hiking with your smartphone, we teach you simple tricks to get the most from it. These teaching moments will leave you with instagram-worthy pics, and tips that you won’t forget next time you want to take a selfie. It’s the stereotypical image of paradise- a light breeze in the palms, dedicated surfers in the distance riding the waves, and a fiery sun slowly moving through the clouds flecked in orange and gold. There’s a light parade over the Pacific Ocean every day, and this hike offers a sweeping view most will never see. As the orange fireball swims along the horizon, we’ll stay on the mountain top and watch the city below come alive in a flicker of lights. Your tour guide will lay a blanket on the dusty mountain top, and you can relish how the lights of Los Angeles seem a thousand miles away. Headlamps and hiking poles provided. Advanced, 2 hours.

Your tour guide will point out the iconic Santa Monica Pier, the Getty Center Museum, the Venice Boardwalk, Catalina Island, and the San Gabriel Mountains. This trail has unparalleled views of downtown Los Angeles and the vast street-grid of the city. Hiking through the beautiful canyons with skyscrapers to your right, and Malibu mansions to your left, you’ll finish this trail with a new appreciation for the city’s diversity.
