Frequently Asked Questions
Sometimes people who go on guided hikes worry about how difficult the trail will be. What if they’re unable to keep up with the group, or what if they’re the one who slows the group down? Don’t worry! With Hikely, the trail guide looks and listens to cues from the hikers when setting the pace. All of Hikely’s trail guides are experienced guides certified by the NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute in Wilderness First Aid. Our hikes are designed with all skill levels in mind. Predesigned hikes range from 2-8 miles and often include single-track trails and significant elevation gain. Therefore, it is suggested hikers be in relatively good shape and wear appropriate shoes. For extra assurance, look for the difficulty rating including in each trail’s description. We will happily adjust predesigned tours to your fitness level or create a tour especially for you and your group. We invite all groups and individuals of all ages to participate in our ours.
Dress comfortably, in light layers, and wear proper athletic shoes. No open-toe shoes will be allowed on the hike. Remember to pack lots of water, at least 2 liters per person and sun protection. If you forget any of these items or want to bring snacks, Bristol Farms Grocery Store is located close to the park for last minute purchases. Also, don’t forget your camera!

Hikely understands that life is unpredictable. Under certain circumstances, and on an individual basis, we will reschedule your tour without penalty, even with last minute changes. Only if a trip is canceled by Hikely or the participant finds a replacement more than one week before the trip is a refund possible. A receipt is required for refund. Participants will be refunded by check from Hikely. The tour guide will wait up to 30 minutes after the scheduled hike for customers who are running late. There will be a late fee dependent on how long the tour guide is expected to wait after the initial 30 minutes. If the customer hasn’t contacted Hikely within the 30 minutes, the hike will be cancelled with no refund or rescheduling.

Hikes will meet at Temescal Gateway Park, 15601 W Sunset Blvd. Pacific Palisades, CA. 90272. The trailhead and parking are at the intersection of Sunset Blvd. and Temescal Canyon Road in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. You may park inside the park gates (parking fee is $7 at time of writing) or you can park for free on the street on either Sunset or Temescal Canyon Road. If you do choose to park inside the gate, beware of the stop-sign camera inside the park. It’s notoriously trigger-happy. We will meet at the picnic tables under the trees in the first parking lot off of Sunset. For Corporate Hikes and personalized trails, the location may change.
